James C. Samans—the Spontaneous Tourist—travels more than 200,000 miles each year by air, rail, bus, and ship. He holds elite status with United Airlines and Continental Airlines as well as Amtrak and several hotel chains.
He also works full time, serves in the military as a reservist, and takes graduate classes. Despite being so busy, he’s seen every state in America and visited more than a dozen countries since 2005.

Outside of his life as a Spontaneous Tourist, Jamie is an information systems auditor for TWM Associates. He also serves with the 512th Airlift Wing of the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
Jamie holds a Masters degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Maryland. When he’s not traveling, he lives in Arlington, Virginia. More often than not, though, he can be found elsewhere!
